An Absolute Lifesaver

13 years ago, I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS). My neurologist tried all the different medications available, but I didn’t get any relief from the symptoms or pain. On top of that, these are very dangerous, potent medications. My neurologist then suggested medical cannabis. He was instrumental in getting the state program going.

I started by smoking plain flower, but now I’ve switched to a vape pen with THC  in its pure form and that’s been a lot more effective in taking the edge off the pain. By trial and error, I’ve figured out which strains help with my pain, which are good for keeping me awake, which help with my appetite, which help me sleep, because falling asleep is difficult every night because of the pain. Don’t be afraid to explore. If you keep trying, you’ll find the one that works best for you and your condition.

The stigma about medical cannabis really needs to be done away with. It’s so ingrained for so many people that it’s bad for you, that it’s a gateway drug, but nothing could be farther from the truth. I’ve not only seen how it helps me, I’ve seen how it helps other people I’ve met at my dispensary. There are kids who have epilepsy who come in wearing the protective helmets. The next time I see them, their epilepsy is under control. They’re not wearing their helmets anymore and are running around playing.

Medical cannabis has been an absolute lifesaver for me, but I was very hesitant about trying CBD oil. One Saturday night, I was playing cards with my wife and kids and I was just in too much pain and discomfort to continue. I had the CBD oil in the refrigerator and my wife said, “Why don’t you just try it.” I thought it wouldn’t do anything, but I put 4 or 5 drops under my tongue and 15 minutes later, it was like day and night. I was able to go back to playing cards with my family like nothing was wrong. I think that was a real turning point for my family understanding medical cannabis. They finally understood what it was all about and what a big difference it makes for me. Those 4 little drops changed my life.
