CannabizMD (CBMD) was founded by Jacquie Cohen Roth in 2017 with a vision to create a unique ecosystem supporting Maryland’s nascent medical cannabis industry. The original mission of CBMD was to educate, build and engage the ecosystem that supporting Maryland’s nascent industry’s growth and sustainability via an exchange of ideas and innovation on this platform and at CannabizMD events. In short order, emerging markets both nationally and internationally have grown the ecosystem which extends beyond Maryland’s borders.
The CannabizMD ecosystem includes the medical cannabis vertical owners/operators; healthcare providers; regulators; researchers; scientists; policy influencers and ancillary service providers. All with a shared commitment to establishing industry best standards and compliance with them and shared goal.
The values of CannabizMD reflect a desire to to support the vision, culture and company values of its ecosystem members. Tikkun olam is a Hebrew concept which literally means “repair of the world”. This inspires CannabizMD and its partners to behave and act constructively and beneficially for society, create passion, transparency, teamwork, accountability, determination and a strong willingness to evolve.
Jacquie Cohen Roth: Founder/CEO
Jacquie is driven by her commitment to health and wellness with a strategic vision focused on the medical cannabis industry and an active commitment to ensuring gender and racial equity in the cannabis industry. To that end, she launched social enterprise Tea Pad in 2019.
Jacquie is recognized as a pioneer in the East Coast cannabis industry. She was inspired in 2017 to build an ecosystem supporting Maryland’s nascent medical cannabis industry, recognized as a model of a successful medical cannabis state. That was the launch of CannabizMD. Leadership in the Maryland market quickly grew the audience to a national audience and now, international. Staying true to her Maryland roots, continued active engagement in Maryland medical cannabis industry is a priority for Jacquie. She’s has been an advocate for incorporating cannabis as a viable clinical treatment for decades.
Jacquie has 26 years of expertise in healthcare and public policy. She founded Mojo Media in 2004 which included the platform of Chesapeake Physician – Your practice. Your life. Always one to wear many hats, Jacquie served as publisher and executive editor. Chesapeake Physician became a renown resource for physicians, hospitals and healthcare systems along with healthcare stakeholders for leading clinical innovations, healthcare information technology (HIT) and best practices for delivering quality patient care. She also developed physician engagement and healthcare consumer education pieces for several MidAtlantic healthcare systems and enterprises.
Jacquie has been recognized for her cannabis industry leadership and expertise as a speaker at the Cannabiz World Summit in Malta, November 2019 and is Advisory Board member of Cann-Expo 2021, Athens, Greece. She’s been a resource for leading industry publications including Marijuana Business Magazine and Marijuana Venture. Her professional achievements and community leadership is underscored by her selection as a member of Leadership Maryland. She’s regularly recognized by leading cannabis industry and business platform as leading female entrepreneur and for her DEI work.
Jacquie is a Masters of Science (MSc) candidate in Medical Cannabis Science and Therapeutics at University of Maryland School of Pharmacy (2021). She earned a double B.A. in Economics and Policy Studies with a Minor in International Political Economies from The Maxwell School of Syracuse University. Jacquie’s is a medical cannabis patient who incorporates medical cannabis into her personal healthcare practices providing a unique and passion driven perspective on the medical cannabis industry.
Kim Van Dyke: Creative Director
Kim helps manage the creative team working with photographers, designers, vendors and all those working on the creative aspects of CannabizMD projects.
Kim is an award-winning graphic designer. She’s received innumerable national to international industry awards for her work. Kim’s skills have special emphasis and expertise in magazine design, conceptual design and typography. Kim is active with conservancy organizations as well pet rescue organizations.
Kim received a B.S. in Advertising from University of Maryland and a M.A. in Publication Design for University of Baltimore.
